UNAIR NEWS – Every year ¶«¾©ÈÈ admits international students from various countries. Through Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), the international students admitted in UNAIR were welcomed in the Welcoming Reception International Students event. The event was held on Friday, September 14, at Kahuripan Hall 300 Campus C UNAIR.

Irfan Wahyudi, Ph.D, as a staff of AGE in charge of international program said that the Welcoming Reception International Students event was held to welcome the students who started education process at UNAIR. Irfan said, there are currently  200 international students at UNAIR. Students come from various countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.

“Inbound students are from various channels such as Airlangga Development Scholarship (ADS), AMERTA Program, Developing Country Partnership Scholarship (KNB), Dharmasiswa, and regular programs,” he added.

Irfan also said that there are 37 students were admitted through AMERTA program,  9 students from Dharmasiswa, 5 out of 10 students from KNB, 12 from 32 students come from ADS, and 14 students come from regular programs.

Irfan said, students will later attend lectures in degree and non-degree programs. One degree program is for the KNB scholarship which is intended for master’s students while non-degree program is from Dharmasiswa scholarship for students who study Indonesian language only.

“With the various scholarship programs provided and the quality improvement of each field of study at UNAIR, we strive to continue to attract international students, both degree and non-degree programs that will make acknowledged globally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Klawdia Frost, a foreign student from Poland shared what she felt about her first experience in Indonesia. The student from Dharmasiswa program admitted that she experienced culture shock and homesick. But she admitted that the problem was a normal one in a new environment.

“As time goes by, this problem will definitely disappear and I hope we can all enjoy the learning process here,” she said.

Unlike Klawdia, Faith Fore told her excitement when she was in Indonesia because she is often invited to take pictures together by the surrounding community.

“Indonesian people, especially UNAIR residents are very friendly and ready to help us all. So we also have to do the same with them, ” she concluded. (*)
