UNAIR NEWS聽– A number of policies and work programs of four Academic Senate commission of in 2018 were approved on Friday, February 23.聽Being held at Ketapang Indah Hotel, Banyuwangi, the Academic Senate Secretary, Iman Prihandono, SH., MH., LL.M., Ph.D., concluded the work meeting and finalized the results.
There was a 4.5 hour long discussion to achieve the decision making.聽Representing the chairman of UNAIR Academic Senate Prof.聽Dr.聽Joewono Soeroso, dr., M. Sc., Sp.聽PD.聽KR., FINASIM., Iman led the work meeting.聽He acknowledged that there were several revisions to the regulations and new work program proposals.
“Medical check-up聽for lecturers and staff was one of the proposals,” he said.
In the work meeting, each commission consisting of UNAIR experts took turns in proposing a program for a year ahead.聽Other commissions, as well as members of the academic senate, gave a number of responses and views.
There are four academic senate commissions at UNAIR.聽Commission 1 is chaired by Prof.聽Dr.聽Nursalam, M. Nurs (Hons);聽Commission 2 by Prof.聽Dr.聽Suwarno, drh., M.Si;聽Commission 3 by Prof.聽Dr.聽Widi Hidayat, M. Si., Ak .;聽and Commission 4 by Prof.聽Dr.聽Sri Subekti, DEA., Drh.
Commission 1 has tasks related to academic and student affairs.聽Commission 2 is on resources and infrastructures.聽Commission 3 is about institutional, planning, and supervision.聽The commission 4 is for the field of research, community service, cooperation, and alumni.
Providing a draft proposal, Dean of Faculty of Dental Medicine Dr.聽R. Darmawan, drg., M. Kes., acknowledged that there are some fundamental issues that have not been come to an agreement among academic community such as on the definition and definition of UNAIR jargon, “Excellence with Morality”.
“During AUN accreditation (Airlangga University Network, ed) yesterday, the definition of Excellence with Morality was also questioned,” sebutnya.聽“It is also different among the academicians.聽What is Excellence with Morality?”Added the member of Commission 2 of Academic Senate UNAIR.
In addition, the challenges faced by the Z generation, a generation born from 1995 to mid-2000s, was one of the topics discussed.聽It was related to the policy in facing the challenges of digitalization era, on the quality of students and methods of education.
“The current students often found lazy to read.聽They tend to memorize their presentation without reading the references, both books and journals, ” said Prof.聽Ramlan Surbakti, Drs., MA., Ph.D.
With these proposals, discussions and considerations, the work meeting resulted 2 policies and 1 decision and 22 programs approved by the forum.聽“Alhamdulillah, hopefully in the future the various targets and work programs that have been planned can be achieved without many obstacles,” said Prof.聽Yuwono while closing the work meeting.聽(*)
