UNAIR NEWS聽– Varicose veins are caused by various factors.聽According to dr.聽Yoga in a presentation in “Mother Care Program”, first, they occur due to female or gender factors.聽Women experience pregnancy and the period of pregnancy can be a burden.聽In addition, activity in the kitchen makes women stand a lot.
The other factor is heredity.聽When a grandmother or elderly had varicose veins, the individual may be very likely to have varicose veins.
“Symptoms are swelling.聽The veins stand out and turn blue and purple.聽In fact, wound is hard to heal because the blood flow that brings nutrients from the heart is disrupted, “said dr.聽Yoga in the activity.
Diagnosis of varicose veins is not necessarily done privately.聽Dr. Yoga advised to check them at the nearest vascular clinic and examination procedure is performed.聽There should be Q&A session with the doctor, physical examination with a聽vein viewer聽tool, and ultrasound (Ultrasonography)聽exam to the lower thighs.

The counseling and examination in Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic, Room A, second floor of RSUA was not only attended by mothers, but also students from other universities.聽Kevin Giovinda, one of the participants from STIE Mahardhika Surabaya, admitted that although he learns accounting, he and his friends really want to get knowledge about varicose veins after being told by the lecturer.
