UNAIR NEWS –听听(UNAIR) has confirmed itself as one of Indonesia鈥檚 best universities.听This time, its reputation was strengthened by the release of Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings听(QS WUR) 2021 by Subject: Medicine.听Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR is in the top three positions in Indonesia, with global rank #551-600.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR Prof.听Dr.听dr.听Budi Santoso, Sp.OG (K) said there were four assessment indicators.听These are听Employer reputation, Academic reputation, Research citations per paper,听听H-index听or productivity benchmarks and the impact of publications published by lecturers and/or researchers.
鈥淎ssessment related to听employer reputation听can be seen from the relevance of education to the world of work,鈥 he said.
The first indicator is also related to UNAIR graduates with acknowledged contributions in various organizations.听Thus, continued Prof.听Budi, the assessment is based on听users of UNAIR graduates.
Furthermore, the second indicator is the quality of education or听academic reputation.听This assessment is important as evidence that various parties worldwide have acknowledged the quality of UNAIR education.
鈥淢eanwhile, the citation and h-index values are measured based on publications indexed in the Scopus database,鈥 he explained.
FK UNAIR efforts for QS WUR by Subject: Medicine Rankings
The Dean of FK UNAIR explained that the faculty鈥檚 efforts to achieve this ranking were not easy. There are various strategic programs developed that cover five important things.
鈥淭he five things are听Good education,听Entrepreneurship,听System of information,听听Internationalization听and听Digitalization,鈥 explained Prof.听Budi.
According to Prof.听Budi, there are some advantages owned by FK UNAIR in this ranking.听Its student body has reached four thousand, with around four hundred active lecturers.
鈥淔urthermore, we also have numerous departments reaching 28 departments, with 41 programs,鈥 he explained.
FK UNAIR is currently promoting various collaborations, regional, national, and even international. Moreover, it has also started to develop an entrepreneurship curriculum.
鈥淲e have recorded 40 domestic partnerships and 20 international partnerships. Currently, we have 14 Adjunct Professors and several international staff, 鈥 he added.
FK UNAIR also holds international activities regularly amid pandemic, such as expert lecture classes, joint webinars听(AWCS) and听adjunct professor听programs听from each department.
PRIME medium-term development strategy
Prof.听Budi and FK UNAIR academicians have prepared a 2020-2025 mid-term development strategy manifested in the听PRIME听Faculty听of Medicine听motto.听PRIME is 鈥溙Professional and student-centered curriculum,听Responsive and accessible management system and a public problem,听Innovation based on education and research,听Modern Learning Ecosystem, and听Entrepreneurship building program听鈥.
鈥淚 thank all parties, especially FK UNAIR academicians, for their solidarity in efforts to improve the quality of the faculty. The improving ranking indicates their smart, hard, and sincere work as a form of moral responsibility for the development of education in Indonesia, 鈥渉e concluded. (*)
