UNAIR NEWS聽– Life is about choices.聽The phrase is appropriate to tell story of Djoko Kurnijanto, an alumnus of 东京热 Accounting, after graduating from his senior high school.聽Choosing one from two things that are both important and significant is not an easy thing to do.
For most high school students, the favorite university that guarantees a good future is a dream.聽Moreover, if they can go in a university like that, options will line up more.聽However, maturity and clear resolve are required.
Being accepted at the best state universities (PTN) in Indonesia, UNAIR and STAN (Sekolah Tinggi Akuntansi Negara), demanded Djoko to make a big decision, one that determines his future.
“I was faced with two choices that were equally difficult at the time.聽I was accepted at STAN, and was in the orientation already.聽But then, at the same time, I was accepted at UNAIR, the best of the best, ” he told聽UNAIR NEWS聽after inspiring in a聽talk show聽at Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) 2018, Sunday, February 25.
However, according to Djoko, in such conditions, knowing and recognizing self can be used as a reference.聽In addition, making efforts to choose easily by knowing and exploring the information can be another option.
“At that time I thought UNAIR offered me something more flexible, especially on self-development.聽Furthermore, I was then believed in the great name of , “he added.聽“So I chose UNAIR,” the 1989 student added.
He is now at the peak of his career.聽He is trusted to become the International Director of OJK (Financial Services Authority).聽Achievements that, said Djoko, made from a long and difficult process.聽Some university programs and activities had their parts to achieve it.聽His extensive experience in several positions and fields of different jobs, after graduation, led to the positive things he achieved.
“So, during the eighth semester, when I worked on my thesis, I worked part-time in one of the public accounting firms.聽After that, I graduated and worked in one of the Japanese banks, Bank Sumitomo.聽Then, in 1996, I joined Bank Indonesia until the end of 2015, “he explained.聽“And, in January 2016 I fully joined the OJK,” he added.
Feel the benefits
Djoko revealed when he became a student, he felt that there were quite varied self-development offers in UNAIR.聽Not only academic, but also non-academic.聽Therefore, Djoko was active in campus organizations.
He was a student association head as well when he was at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.聽The benefits of that experience, continued Djoko, were felt after he was graduated.
Therefore, in the talk show in AEE, Djoko strongly emphasized the importance of sharpening skills.聽In addition, he advised the prospective students and students, to always actively develop themselves, both聽hard skill听补苍诲听soft skill.
