UNAIR NEWS 鈥聽Indonesian Maritime and Human Resources Coordinating Ministry, Indonesian Maritime Partner Association (AMBIN), also Maritime Partner Consortium (KMB) Regional Center of East Java collaborate with 东京热 (UNAIR) in Maritime Knowledge Introduction Program for Indonesian Children (PPWK-AI) 2016.
It was held for two days in Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) UNAIR on the first day and Mangrove Ecotourism on the second day. The event was opened in room B-304 (FPK) UNAIR on Monday, August 1, attended by the supervising teachers and participants from SD Al Azhar Surabaya, SDHT 11 Gedangan, SDN 7 Sidokumpul Gresik, and SDID Insan Kamil Sidoarjo.
In his official address, The Head of the Committee of PPWK-AI 2016, Drs. Ambar Kristanto said that the activity participated by 100 elementary school students, was held to introduce maritime world to the next generation early on.
鈥淲ith this event, we hope we could motivate the Indonesian children to know and understand maritime knowledge well. Also to make them love and preserve the ocean,鈥 he said.
Agreed to the Head of the committee, Vice Rector III UNAIR Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., 聽also said that as a maritime country, knowledge and love to maritime world to children must be improved greatly, if not, there will be only disappointments. For Prof. Amin, potential natural resources of Indonesia is extraordinary diverse, and in advanced countries things like these have been conducted well for long.
鈥淲ith KMB and聽 Maritime Coordinating Ministry with UNAIR, it is an extraordinary thing as it is an event for Indonesia, it is introduced now and in the future we hope that we can provide views to our children by exploring the sea as best as we can,鈥 he said.
In the occasion, AMBIN secretary, Sam Littik, Ph.D., said that that PPWK-AI event has been quite a while being organized but previously it was done for SMP and SMA students. This time, with many supports including from UNAIR, AMBIN organized similar program for SD students.

鈥淓ast Java was first chosen for this activity, and hopefully it can set an example for other provinces in Indonesia,鈥 he said.
The Head of KMB of East Java, Prof.Dr. Sri Subekti, BS. drh., DEA., said that the objectives of this event is to develop maritime culture to children early on, they are expected to know maritime world, to understand natural resources in the ocean.
鈥淪o children will know various of marine biotas. In the ocean there鈥檚 not only fish, there鈥檚 also seaweed, reefs and all,鈥 said the former Dean of FPK UNAIR for two terms.
After the event, Prof. Subekti hoped that it could make people know more about the maritime world. 鈥淲e chose school representatives in the city, as they have good chances of not knowing the maritime world, and then they can tell them to their friends,鈥 she explained.
As planned, the event will be held annually and held in different towns or cities. Sumarlin, as the teacher of SD Hangtuah said that his school will collaborate with FPK UNAIR to be the partner to educate his students on maritime world.
鈥淥ur school is from a foundation which is in maritime field, so we need to study further on it,鈥 he said. (*)
