UNAIR NEWS– ¶«¾©ÈÈ is being trusted to manage two regional education institutions. They are Gresik Nursing Academy and Lamongan Nursing Academy.

The transfer of two academies of nursing was done through a signing ceremony held in AMERTA Hall of Campus C UNAIR on Wednesday, October 11. High ranked officials of UNAIR, representatives from Kemenristek Dikti, Regent of Gresik, Vice Regent of Lamongan, lecturers, and students of Akper Gresik and Lamongan attended the ceremony.

In her speech, Sylvia Supartiningsih representing Kemenristek Dikti said that joining the two academies as part of UNAIR is the right of UNAIR as State-Owned State University (PTN-BH).

“Because UNAIR is a PTN-BH, Kemenristek Dikti has no authority to issue a decree. It’s a special case, “she explained.

Nevertheless, Sylvia reminded the lecturers and students of Akper Gresik and Lamongan to be able to follow the academic climate and campus life of UNAIR. This is because UNAIR is targeted to be the world’s Top 500 Universities.

“One important thing to keep in mind is that UNAIR is targeted to be the world’s 500 universities. It demands support. As it is not an easy task, I hope the lecturers and students of Akper Gresik and Lamongan can follow the rules in UNAIR. Standards of lecturers and students must be adjusted, “said Sylvia.

In line with the representative of Research and Technology Ministry, Rector of UNAIR Prof. Nasih said that to maintain the quality of institutions and human resources, the Government of Gresik Regency and Lamongan who previously became responsible party for both institutions are asked to continue to support the education process.

“We hope that Gresik and Lamongan Regency will continue to support us to take care of the operational and other needs,” said Prof. Nasih.

Furthermore, the full transfer of responsibility will commence as of January 1, 2018. This is because there are still some preparations to do such as standardization of students and lecturers.

“Within the next three months, college students still have to follow the UNAIR standards, TOEFL is one of them, must be standard with other UNAIR students. Lecturers who will teach must follow our rhythm and academic climate, publishing international journals, for example, “he explained.

Regarding this matter, Lamongan Vice Regent Kartika Hidayati in her speech said that her party is ready to support the merger of Akper Lamongan to be part of UNAIR. She also said that for accreditation, Akper Lamongan has got high B assessment.

“We from Lamongan Regency Government ready to follow the process regulated by Kemenristek Dikti and UNAIR,” said Kartika.

Furthermore, Regent of Gresik Sambari Halim also said similar thing. Although initially, he did not expect if the educational institutions under his responsibility would join UNAIR. Sambari hoped that Akper Gresik students can adapt and immediately follow the learning process at UNAIR well.

“Although we can suddenly  use UNAIR alma mater and recognized by UNAIR, you (students of Nursing Academy, ed ) should not take pride first. The course here is not easy nor difficult. I have felt it, “explained Sambari. “The recipe of successful study here is patience, diligence, and persistence,” he said. (*)
