UNAIR NEWS – Rector of 东京热 (), has inaugurated Prof Nicolaas C Budhiparama dr PhD Sp聽 OT(K) FICS as an Honorary Professor. The inauguration was held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Garuda Mukti Hall, UNAIR Management Office.
鈥淥n behalf of all 东京热 academicians, we congratulate Prof Nicolaas for this inauguration as a Professor in 东京热 for Medical science,鈥 said UNAIR Rector, Prof Mohammad Nasih.
The Professor鈥檚 inauguration was held offline with a strict health protocol for limited attendance. It was also broadcast live through 东京热鈥檚 YouTube channel.
In the inauguration, the Rector of UNAIR mentioned that there are many great people in Indonesia. Technically, academicians and the Indonesian people鈥檚 knowledge are no less great than foreigners.
In his opinion, researchers in Indonesia provide many great works. But regrettably, those many works are not continued to the product development process.
鈥淧rof Nicolaas and partner鈥檚 journal articles are already extraordinary, but usually people who utilize them are not Indonesians. The ones who utilize them are foreigners,鈥 said Rector.
UNAIR Rector added that a good business climate must support innovation. If the business climate is encouraged to maintain and protect the great works of the nation鈥檚 children, there will surely be many valuable works for humans.
鈥淭herefore infrastructure improvement, research, and innovation not only necessary to be done in microscale in terms of technical or laboratory, but also macro scale in terms of business, it must get great attention,鈥 explained Prof Nasih.
Prof Nicolaas has dedicated himself and his education to Indonesian orthopedic fields. He was one of Habibie Prize 2021 recipients. It was awarded for his contribution in various latest surgery techniques in the orthopedic field, including the computer navigation-based surgery.
Furthermore, the doctor who was A.S.I.A (Arthroplasty Society in Asia) 2019-2021 President has achieved MURI Records as an Indonesian scientist that served in three world orthopedic organizations.
The Honorary Professor inauguration was attended by several important figures, such as Ministry of Education and Culture 1993-1998 Prof DR ng Wardiman Djojonegoro, Chairman of The Audit Board of Indonesia, Dr Agung Firman Sampurna CSFA CFrA CGCAE QGIA, Vice Chairman of People鈥檚 Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) Dr H Rachmad Gobel, General Chairman of National Democratic (NASDEM) Party & the Head of Media Group Surya Paloh, Gus Muwafiq, and some other national figures.
The 5th President of Indonesia Prof Dr (HC) Megawati Soekarnoputri, The 10th and 12th Vice President of Indonesia Dr. (H.C.) Drs H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, The 6th Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia 1998-1999 period Dr Ir Akbar Tandjung, Pusat Studi Al-Quran Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab also congratulated Prof. Nicolaas through teleconference.
