UNAIR NEWS聽– A number of students, members of Photography Society (APS) or UNAIR Photography club held a photo exhibition titled “Rantau” from Wednesday, Feb. 20 to Saturday, Feb. 23.聽鈥淪ewindu, mengadu, dan merindu (Eight years, confiding, longing)鈥 was the tagline of the exhibition held at Stasiun Gubeng Baru and supported by PT KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations.
The “Rantau” exhibition is a project carried out by students who have just joined UNAIR Photography Club.聽Ega Putri of the exhibition committee said that the exhibition was a mandatory task for new students who would join Photography Club.聽She also explained the reasons behind the theme, “Rantau”.
“Because college students are usually identical to rantau (wandering custom).聽This exhibition expressed their longing.聽Station was chosen because it is identical to arrival and departure.聽So it was held here to聽have a direct聽feel, and it can be seen by people passing by,” explained the 2018 Sociology student.
There are two categories of photos on display, story photos and single photos.聽Story photos consists of three separate photos with continuous stories between the first photo and the third photo.聽While a single photo only describes one moment or event.聽In total, there are sixty photos displayed along the front hall of the station.聽All of them are the works of new members of Photography Club.
“We also invited Photography Club from other campuses, such as from University of Jember (Unej), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Universitas Brawijaya (UB) to come to this event.聽But not as participants, “added Ega.
The visitors got the opportunity to聽vote聽and choose the best photo works.聽Photos that have most聽number of聽votes聽will be named winners and receive award plaques.
The exhibition was started from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.聽Special for the last evening, Saturday, Feb. 23 there was a photo review event taking place at 6 p.m.聽In the session, the participants were asked to explain the meaning of each photo as well as to determine the winners of the best work.
