Not Only in Classes, Students Learn Directly in Hotel

UNAIR NEWS – Learning is not only obtained within the classes, but it can be obtained from outside the classrooms.聽D-3 Hospitality Management, Faculty of Vocational Studies, 东京热 conduct a learning session outside the classroom, in one of the five-star hotels in Surabaya.

There were 65 Hospitality Management students who are currently in the second semester visiting JW Marriot Hotel, Surabaya, Saturday, April 14.聽JW Marriot Hotel, Surabaya, is one of the five star luxury hotels with international standard.聽The students learned a lot of new things in the field of hospitality.

There were two activities they followed, hotel tour聽and聽table manner class.聽The two activities were led by hotel managers.

In the hotel tour, students were invited to see three types of restaurants, swimming pool,聽lounge, and other public places.聽In addition, they also visited one of the most luxurious rooms or聽presidential suite.聽Students of Hospitality Management were enthusiastic about this event and they asked questions several times.

The students were not only invited to hotel tour.聽They were also invited to do some tasks practically, such as聽making bed聽and聽ice carving.聽Thus, the knowledge they gained not only the theory, but they can directly practiced it.聽Another lesson that was also interesting was the barista and flambe practiced directly by the experts.

This event was not only beneficial for students, but representatives from UNAIR management also felt the same way.

“The service here is pretty good.聽In addition, we can provide the lessons we need by following this event.聽And we can implement it when we meet the Rector, “said Reni, one of UNAIR management staff who serves Rector UNAIR during table manner聽event聽.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of D-3 Program of Hospitality Management Dian Yulie Reindrawati S.Sos., MM, Ph.D hoped that through this event the students gain more knowledge and skill in the world of hospitality.

“Hopefully the students gain knowledge on eating etiquette.聽So, one day if they are invited to an important event, they will know what to do, “explained Dian.

Endra as Pastry Chef JW Marriot Surabaya hoped that through this event the students were more familiar with the world of hospitality.聽So later on, their knowledge can be practiced in the field of professional world.

She also said that after this visit, UNAIR Hospitality Management students can have an internship program at JW Marriot Hotel.聽“Because a lot of UNAIR graduates are already working here,” she added.聽(*)
