UNAIR NEWS – ������ (UNAIR) welcomed an international accreditation review team from Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Plenary Meeting Room on the fourth floor of the Management Office Building at UNAIR’s MERR-C Campus. The visit reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to strengthening educational quality in line with global standards.

The event was attended by UNAIR Rector oleh Prof Dr M Madyan SE MSi MFin, Head of the University Quality Assurance Board, Prof Nurul Barizah SH LLM PhD, as well as university and faculty leaders from academic programs undergoing assessment. Representing AHPGS were Georg Reschauer as Managing Director and Lena Schnell, Head of International Accreditation, accompanying a team of assessors from several universities in Germany.

Commitment to continuous quality improvement

AHPGS is a Germany-based international accreditation agency recognized across Europe and by Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The accreditation process focuses on quality assurance at the academic program level. Programs undergoing evaluation during this accreditation cycle include the undergraduate and professional Dentistry programs from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, undergraduate and professional Nursing programs from the Faculty of Nursing, the undergraduate Law program from the Faculty of Law, and the undergraduate Psychology program from the Faculty of Psychology.

In his remarks, Prof. Madyan expressed appreciation for the AHPGS assessors’ visit and the opportunity to conduct a joint evaluation of the participating academic programs. He emphasized that accreditation is more than an academic review; it is a process of reflection and continuous learning.

“Quality assurance at UNAIR is not merely about meeting standards. It has become an institutional culture that guides decision-making and drives continuous quality improvement,” he said.

Prof. Madyan added that this commitment aligns with UNAIR’s vision of becoming a world-class entrepreneurial university, supported by sustainable education, research, and community engagement that are responsive, innovative, and impactful.

First-ever AHPGS visit at UNAIR

Meanwhile, Prof. Nurul explained that the AHPGS accreditation visit marks the agency’s first assessment conducted at UNAIR. Unlike some accreditation systems, AHPGS employs an on-site evaluation model that includes direct observations and meetings with stakeholders. The two-day review will include visits to each academic program under assessment.

“The assessment team evaluates a wide range of aspects, including teaching and learning quality, supporting infrastructure, human resources, student services and facilities, as well as future development plans for each academic program,” she explained.

Through the accreditation visit, Prof. Madyan expressed hope that collaboration with AHPGS would prove productive and generate valuable recommendations for further strengthening educational quality at the university.

“We hope this visit will provide insights that enhance our competitiveness, expand our positive impact on society, and further elevate UNAIR’s standing on the global stage,” he concluded.
