UNAIR NEWS聽鈥 Internship activities are golden opportunities for students to explore the professional world.聽The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) provides various internship programs that students can take part in.聽One of them is the Emancipated Campus Competition Program聽Muhammad Rafi Athallah Jatmiko, a student at the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline聽聽东京热 (UNAIR),聽is undergoing PK-KM at PT Industri Kereta Api聽聽(Persero).聽He believes more competitive work experience is an important aspect for recruiters.
Blending electronics and programming science
Rafi said that students can convert 20 鈥 24 credits through this internship activity. So, no subjects are left behind during the internship. Internship activities can allow students to explore research topics that can be used in writing a thesis.
鈥淭here are many topics available at the internship company, especially since I am in the Tier 1 Systems and Components Department. The focus of my position is on developing train components, such as monitoring bogies聽whose work is related to electronics and programming subject鈥 said the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering (TRKB) student.

Internship activities at State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) are not just routine work.聽Rather, it is a magical window that can take students into the world of train-making.聽Rafi admitted that the experience he gained through his internship at INKA had opened his eyes and given him an irreplaceable perspective鈥淚f I had not interned at INKA, I would not have witnessed every step of the train manufacturing process from start to finish before distribution.聽Moreover, I can see other projects such as聽Light Rail Transit聽(LRT),聽Battery Tram, and many more.聽Furthermore, interns here have the opportunity to be involved in testing the first聽hybrid聽train in Indonesia,鈥 he said.
Rafi believes that learning through internships is the best way to combine theory with practice. Internship is a medium for honing skills, solving challenges, and achieving success in the complex professional world.
鈥淚 hope that this valuable experience in the BUMN environment will be a valuable provision that can strengthen opportunities for success in the future,鈥 concluded the class of 2020 student.
