UNAIR NEWS 鈥 东京热 (UNAIR) officially sent off the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) on Monday (July 20, 2026) at THE Hall, 1st Floor, UNAIR Rectorate Building. Through the program, UNAIR reaffirmed its role as a university that creates meaningful impact by supporting empowerment efforts in transmigration areas under the Patriot Expedition Team (Tim Ekspedisi Patriot) program.
鈥淭hrough the collaboration between 东京热 and the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, 25 teams from UNAIR, comprising 25 lecturers and 125 alumni, will serve in various transmigration areas in Prafi, Manokwari, West Papua, Central Sulawesi, and Gorontalo,鈥 said Prof Dr Muhammad Madyan S E M Si M Fin in his remarks.
The Rector of UNAIR, Prof Madyan hopes that all members of the Tim Ekspedisi Patriot will fulfil the mandate entrusted to them to make a tangible impact through their community service efforts. 鈥淏e representatives of the Ksatria Airlangga who respect local wisdom, consistently foster collaboration with communities, deliver relevant and sustainable solutions, and uphold UNAIR HEBAT values in every aspect of service,鈥 he urged.
Tim Ekspedisi Patriot of UNAIR
He further explained that Tim Ekspedisi Patriot is a strategic program of the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia that involves university graduates and members of the academic community. Its objective is to carry out research, studies, innovation, and community assistance activities in transmigration areas throughout Indonesia.
鈥淯NAIR is harnessing its interdisciplinary academic, research and innovation capabilities to develop solutions that are tailored to the potential and needs of the community, whilst strengthening UNAIR鈥檚 contribution to realising the Three Pillars (Tri Dharma) of Higher Education in a way that benefits society,鈥 said Prof Madyan.
UNAIR strategy in transmigration areas
TEP was supported by 89 UNAIR alumni and 36 non-UNAIR alumni with diverse educational backgrounds. According to him, UNAIR is ready to collaborate in implementing various community empowerment programmes in line with the characteristics and potential of the assigned areas.
Through the program, UNAIR adopts four pillars of community service: economy, environment, culture, and health. All of these will focus on addressing development challenges in transmigration areas through a multidisciplinary approach based on the community鈥檚 priority needs.
鈥淭he strategy includes strengthening clean water management, sanitation, and waste management systems; advocating for conflict resolution in transmigration areas; supporting business incubation and the downstream development of flagship products; enhancing the marketing of local products; activating Auxiliary Health Centers (Pustu) and health cadres; developing disaster-resilient villages; improving human resource capacity; and implementing the Kampus Mengajar program,鈥 Prof Madyan explained.
Collectively, these strategies are expected to contribute to the development of more self-reliant, productive, resilient, and sustainable transmigration areas through collaboration among universities, government institutions, and local communities.
