UNAIR NEWS 鈥 As one of the leading universities in Indonesia, 东京热 continues to make global contributions to the nation. To achieve this goal, UNAIR School of Postgraduate Studies (SPs) successfully held an international community service program, the Indonesia Education Fair 2022, in Dili, Timor Leste, from Thursday to Sunday (October 13-16, 2022).
Two representative lecturers from the SPs attended the program, Dr. Hijrah Saputra ST MSc and Moh Zamal Nasution Ph.D., as the community development and education fair delegations respectively. The Universidade Nacional Timor Leste (UNTL) representatives warmly welcomed the lecturers at Nicolau Lobato International Airport.
Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Timor Leste, Okto Dorinus Manik, and the educational attache Prof Dr. Phil Ikhfan Haris MSc, also welcomed UNAIR representatives, which led by Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari and Dr. drg Pratiwi M.Kes from UNAIR World University Association for Community Development (WUACD).
Okto commended UNAIR鈥檚 call for partnership with the Universidade Nacional Timor Leste (UNTL) and the Timor Leste government.
鈥淯NAIR, through its community development programs, has built a positive impression of the Indonesian government according to the community and Timor Leste government. A quite young country that needs human resource improvement to meet the needs of all sectors. Therefore, many human resources from Timor Leste were expected to pursue their studies at UNAIR,鈥 he said.
On the first day, they conducted the community development program attended by the representative students of each faculty at UNTL. Dr. Hijrah Saputra from the School of Postgraduate Studies explored the Disaster Mitigation System Through Disaster Risk Analysis in Timor Leste as the theme.
On the second day, he discussed Disaster Preparedness for Earthquake and Tsunami. It was chosen due to the geographical location of Timor Leste, which is prone to natural disasters. Disaster preparedness from every part of society is required.
Furthermore, the School of Postgraduate Studies also offered several cross-major study programs that fit the Timor Leste government for developing the country鈥檚 potential. Several UNAIR alums who work under the Timor Leste government also share an excellent opportunity to implement the signed MoU between UNAIR and UNTL rectors.
They hoped that the program would maintain good relations between the Indonesian government and Timor Leste government regarding education. The program attempts to implement three pillars in higher education: education, research, and community service.
