UNAIR NEWS – Volleyball UKM ������ held another national competition, “Airlangga National Volley Competition 2016”. The competition was held on Sunday, May 15, in Gedung Olahraga Campus C, UNAIR. The competition is an event to explore students potential among universities, either private universities or state ones.

It was the second competition held by Volleyball UKM UNAIR. Participants’ enthusiasm was quite high. There are 36 teams participating, there were 12 women teams and 24 men teams. They tried their best to win in the competition.

“ANVC was coming from the UKM members’ dream and it was realized right away through this national level competition. We want to make an event which facilitates students from any universities to compete officially and professionally,” said Elfira Fitria Rohma, The Head of Volleyball UKM UNAIR.

Some national universities participated in the competition. Some of them were Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Universitas Hasanudin (UNHAS), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Lamongan (UNISLA), Universitas Negeri Jember (UNEJ), and some other state or private universities in Surabaya and the surrounding towns.

In the competition, for men’s category, the first place was won by IKIP Budi Utomo Malang team, second place was from Universitas Jogjakarta, third place was UNS Surakarta, and the fourth place was Universitas Muhammadiyah Jogjakarta. In women’s category, first place was won by UNS Surakarta, second place was 2 UNEJ, third place was 3 IKIP Budi Utomo Malang, and fourth place was UGM.

“Looking at the enthusiasm, we’d like ANVC in the future not to be centralized in Java. There are many universities outside Java which want to participate in the competition, such as in Papua, Sulawesi and other regions,” said Rizal Karim, competition coordinator of ANVC 2016. (*)
