UNAIR NEWS –聽When applying for a job, each applicant will be faced with several stages of selection.聽One of them is job interview.聽The question and answer process is usually the most thrilling moment as job interviews are an important stage in the recruitment and selection process of prospective employees to get to know the applicant’s potential or competence in detail.聽Therefore, all applicants must hope to pass the interview session.
Through a national webinar on Career聽Challenges Amid Pandemic聽held by Center for Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Affairs (PPKKHA) 东京热 (UNAIR), Dr.聽Hamidah, M.Si., Psychologist, explains how to pass and control our fear during a job interview.
In the online event on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, the Head of Career Training and Consultation Division at PPKKHA UNAIR explained several ways that can be used to show self-excellence and be different from other applicants during the interview. The main thing that must be mastered is the communication style. We must use a comfortable, fluent style, without condescending tone in answering every question. Moreover, every argument must show a positive, coherent, and efficient mindset.
“Since the opportunity to speak in the interview is only a matter of minutes, you must use effective, clear sentences, and don’t make convoluted argument! Propose mindset which promotes solution, ” she emphasized.
The second tip, according to UNAIR’s clinical psychologist, is appearance.聽Dr.聽Hamidah explained that we have to show a聽smart聽appearance聽to convince the interviewer and show a proper attitude.聽It has to do with how to dress modestly when attending an interview session.
“You must know that the company often do not only observe your verbal communication, but also actual behavior.聽So, we must always be ready to be on the watch if every room is monitored by聽CCTV聽to assess attitudes in detail, ” she explained.

Next, Dr. Hamidah explained that we must prepare a clear plan or structure that will be conveyed before doing the interview. There are several ways can be done, by starting to explain the topic of the problem presented, identifying problems using the SWOT, proposing solutions, implementing alternatives, and explaining how to evaluate them.
Furthermore, Dr.聽Hamidah mentioned that one of the methods that can be used to prepare before an interview is practicing to speak in front of a mirror.聽鈥淟ook and listen to the way you communicate in front of the mirror.聽Evaluate whether the speaking style is communicative,聽to the point,聽and understandable or not. The point is 鈥楧on’t give the interviewer the opportunity to reject you! ”聽she said.聽(*)
