UNAIR NEWS聽– The Center for Career Development, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Affairs (PPKKHA)聽听(听聽) held another entrepreneurship seminar on聽Career Challenges in the Middle of a Pandemic, Tuesday, October 6, 2020. One of the speakers in the online discussion via Zoom was Prof.听Dr.听Elly Munadziroh, drg., MS, Head of PPKHA UNAIR.听She explained how to have a聽mindset聽or way of thinking and passion like an聽entrepreneur.
Opening with a presentation on the definition of entrepreneur,聽Prof.听Elly said that聽entrepreneurs聽are people who like changes by finding different ideas from other people that create added value and are able to improve the welfare of other individuals.听Quoting the words of Ir.听Ciputra, an聽entrepreneur聽is someone who can turn dirt and wreckage into gold.
“People who see a difficult thing become a challenge, that’s an聽entrepreneur.听They don’t have to have a big product or business, 鈥 she explained.

Furthermore, the Professor of Faculty of Dental Medicine UNAIR mentioned some mental characteristics that an聽entrepreneur聽must have.听Some of them are having聽a creative entrepreneurial聽mindset, being able to see opportunities, having the courage to take risks, having high resilience, having a vision for the future, and striving to give the best.
鈥淪tart small, from now on, from ourselves and don’t give up when you fail.听That is the聽main聽mindset聽to become an聽entrepreneur,聽” she added.
Furthermore, Prof.听Elly explained that an聽entrepreneur聽must be able to see the “OPPORTUNITY”.听It is “PELUANG” in Indonesian consisting letters that define itself, ‘P’ means 鈥perhatikan sekeliling鈥 (look around); 鈥楨鈥 means 鈥evaluasi kekuatan diri鈥 (evaluate strength); 鈥楲鈥 means 鈥lihat perkembangan鈥 (observe development); 鈥楿鈥 means 鈥ubah yang ada dengan melakukan modifikasi鈥 (change the existing through modification); 鈥楢 鈥 means 鈥antisipasi perubahan鈥 (anticipate changes); 鈥楴鈥 means 鈥nomor satukan pelanggan鈥 (put the customers first); and 鈥楪鈥 means 鈥gerakkan pasar鈥 (develop the market).
“Look at every opportunity well. When you go to the mall, don’t always think about what you want to buy, but think about what you can sell. There must be creative ideas!” she said.
At the end of the session, Prof.听Elly mentioned several promising forms and business opportunities to be implemented during the pandemic season.听Some of these opportunities are聽online聽sales businesses,聽mask making businesses,聽home schooling聽services,聽frozen food businesses,聽content writers,聽hydroponics, health and skin care products, and other business.听(*)
