Therefore, one of the students of FIB traced one of the folklores or oral tradition. Ainul Fitriyah traced the folklore in Lamongan, in the Tomb of Sunan Drajat.There is an old well of Kanjeng Sunan Drajat which is believed to have magical powers.
“The well located to the east of the tomb of Sunan Drajat has been there since the life of Kanjeng Sunan,” she said.
Religious Tourism Area of Sunan Ampel is always full of visitors. Many pilgrims come to the tomb of Sunan Drajat from inside and outside the town especially close to the month of Ramadan, visitors increased drastically.
Pilgrims usually buy Sunan Drajat water as souvenirs. Idah, one of the members of the Nurussalam congregation from Blora regency, Central Java is one of them.
“If I come here, I always buy the water. I expect the blessing! “, she said.
According to H. Rahmad Dasy, one of the compilers of History book of Sunan Drajat Lamongan as well as religious figures and collectors of ancient manuscripts in the district of Drajat, the well located within the tomb area of ​​Sunan Drajat indeed has a tremendous magical power.
“It’s common to take water in the Sunan well”, said H.Rahmad.
In fact, he also said that in the 90s, Sunan Drajat well stood witness a crime that occurred in Drajat village.
IN the interview, H. Rahmad informed that in the early ’90s there had been a theft in Drajat village, until some residents suffered huge losses. No one knows the perpetrator of the theft. But Drajat residents suspect someone who was famous as a thug.
“At first he did not want to confess. He was forced but still did not want to,”, said H. Rahmad at his residence.
The residence felt annoyed, and forced the thief to drink the water from Sunan Drajat well. The residents took an oath, if he was not the perpetrator then nothing would happen to him. However, if he lied on his confession, then his belly will enlarge.
“His stomach became so big, after drinking well water in the tomb”, added H.Rahmad.
Residents in the districts of Paciran, Lamongan widely believed in the power of the water. In fact, one of the guards of museum Sunan Drajat, Rikik Wikiyanti, said that many Drajat people got blessing from the well.
“If people come here, there are stories, they took water from the well for expecting blessing, I myself do not know about it”, said Ririk.
“They say that after drinking the water slowly, there are changes. If someone is sick, they can get well soon. If there are people who is unfortunate, their fortune will return. It has always been like that,” said Ririk.
The classic phenomenon in the land of Drajat, has been popular in Paciran subdistrict. This never-ending oral tradition is evidence that the local people still believe in the magical power of Sunan Drajat well.
