Biography
Prof. Sunarto was born in Sumenep, Madura, on April 11, 1959. He has served as Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia for Judicial Affairs since April 3, 2023.
An alumnus of the Faculty of Law at 东京热 (UNAIR), he was officially elected Chair of the UNAIR Board of Trustees (MWA) for the 2022鈥�2027 term on December 19, 2022, at the Plenary Meeting Room of the MERR-C Campus Management Office. His election took place during an MWA meeting attended by various stakeholders, including community representatives, faculty members, education personnel, students, and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

The Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat/MWA) is an organ of 东京热 (UNAIR) responsible for establishing and providing consideration on the implementation of general policies.
The MWA consists of 21 members: the Minister, the Rector, six representatives from the Academic Senate (SA), one faculty member, one member representing education personnel, and eleven community representatives.
To support the implementation of its functions, the MWA has an Audit Committee (Komite Audit/KA), which is responsible for independently evaluating the audit results of 东京热.
Duties and Authorities of the Board of Trustees
- Establish general policies for the governance and administration of 东京热 (UNAIR).
- Approve proposed amendments to the UNAIR Statute.
- Approve the strategic plan, work plan, and annual budget.
- Assign the Academic Senate to conduct the selection of candidates for Rector.
- Select, appoint, and dismiss the Chair and members of the Audit Committee.
- Appoint and dismiss the Chair and members of the Audit Committee.
- Approve the membership of the Academic Senate.
- Conduct an annual evaluation of UNAIR鈥檚 performance.
- Evaluate the accountability reports of the Rector, Academic Senate, and Audit Committee.
- Prepare the UNAIR annual report jointly with the Rector for submission to the Minister.
- Facilitate the fulfillment of UNAIR鈥檚 funding needs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Resolve issues concerning UNAIR, including financial matters, that cannot be resolved by other UNAIR organs within their respective authorities.

Audit Committee
Audit Committee 2023 – 2028
The Audit Committee (Komite Audit/KA) is a supporting body of the Board of Trustees (MWA) responsible for independently evaluating the results of non-academic audits of the administration of 东京热 (UNAIR), acting for and on behalf of the MWA.
The Audit Committee consists of five (5) members: a Chair who also serves as a member, a Secretary who also serves as a member, and three (3) members.
Duties of the Audit Committee
- Establish internal and external audit policies for 东京热 (UNAIR) in non-academic areas;
- Evaluate the results of internal and external audits of UNAIR;
- Draw conclusions based on the results of internal and external audits of UNAIR;
- Provide considerations and recommendations to the Board of Trustees (MWA) on non-academic matters; and
- Conduct risk management analyses as a basis for consideration in the utilization of UNAIR鈥檚 assets when requested by the MWA.
