UNAIR NEWS 鈥撀False news, more famously known as hoax, is trending right now. Various parties quickly form communities to counter hoaxes in social media. Moreover, the government issues policies concerning hoax. As an education institution, 东京热 responded to the issue by holding a talk show entitled Professors Innovation Exposition, Thursday (16/3).
Three speakers from different expertise attended the talk show which has the theme 鈥淪ociety Active Roles in Dealing with Hoax in Social Media鈥. They were Prof. Dr. Didik Endro Purwoleksono, S.H., M.H., from the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dra. Rachmah Ida, M.Com., Ph.D., from The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Cholichul Hadi, Drs., M.Si., from the Faculty of Psychology.
Dr. Yayan Sakti Suryandaru, S.Sos., M.Si. acted as the moderator. Opening the discussion, Yayan explained that hoax was indeed an interesting topic to discuss. In addition, Yayan also described about the role of hoax in influencing international as well as domestic democracy parties. The first speaker, Prof. Dra. Rachmah Ida, M.Com., Ph.D., a professor from FISIP UNAIR explained that essentially a hoax would not do any harm if it was small in scale. Once the scale escalated into the domain of a nation, for example, it became a serious business.
鈥淗oax has a serious implication once it has an impact on a bigger system like a nation, politics, and institutions. On a much smaller scale, hoax is not a big deal,鈥 she explained.
Adding Prof. Ida the second speaker, from the Faculty of Psychology UNAIR Prof. Dr. Cholichul Hadi, Drs., M.Si. explained that hoax phenomena which was done by anyone was a misconduct. Especially if they did it continually.
鈥淢ake yourself better, don鈥檛 be pessimistic and got stuck on others,鈥 he explained.
The next insight was from the professor of the Faculty of Law 聽聽Prof. Dr. Didik Endro Purwoleksono, S.H., M.H. As the third speaker, Prof. Didik explained that it was not the question of whether we could or couldn鈥檛 maintain the law on hoax; it was more about whether we were willing or unwilling.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not about whether we can or can鈥檛 do it, but whether we are willing or unwilling,鈥 he insisted.
From the organizer, Dr. Eduardus Bimo Aksono H, drh. M.Kes., as the secretary of Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) UNAIR stated in front of the audience that the talk show was the UNAIR professors concern to solve issues spreading in society.
鈥淗opefully the discussion sparks many insights and illuminates our people,鈥 he said.
