UNAIR NEWS 鈥聽Student Association of English Three-year vocational program (D3) 东京热 (聽聽) held another English Business Relations听飞别产颈苍补谤听迟颈迟濒别诲鈥櫬Engage into a new level鈥聽on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.聽Muhammad Rizal Zulmi A.MD.LI, an alumnus of UNAIR English Three-year vocational program (D3) and an active student of Asia University, had the opportunity to share information related to higher education and his experience studying abroad.

When you want to transfer from the D3 level to the Undergraduate program (S1), it takes five years to get a bachelor鈥檚 degree.聽According to Rizal, the two degrees can be gained within four years with the聽dual degree program.聽If you do a聽dual degree program, the D3 program is taken for three years and one year for a聽dual degree.

鈥淚 think it (dual degree, ed) is more efficient.聽Because you need a short time to get a degree and experience,鈥 he said.

鈥淥bviously, it will be busier, because two years of the curriculum are condensed into one year of study,鈥 continued Rizal.

Continuing to the S1 level will get more in-depth courses such as accents and linguistics.聽Rizal also explained that we could be expert.聽Undergraduate program generally will require students to do research or write a final assignment.聽After becoming an聽expert, we will get聽new skills and methods.

鈥淚t (research) increases your聽skills聽in reading,聽critical thinking to explain the research topic you are doing,鈥 he stated.

When you have done an聽extension聽(S1 level), the demands of the job we get will be more difficult.聽For example, after graduating from the聽master鈥檚 degree program聽(S2), we will be given a job that will not always be linear but equivalent to the level of obtained education.聽On the other hand, Rizal said that we would feel proud of all the achievements and titles obtained.

鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 mean that with a high position, you will get money easily. However, you will be faced with a higher level of difficulty as well,鈥 he emphasized.

The fact shows that undergoing higher education will take up most of the time. There will be more tasks given with greater difficulties. So, it will automatically be more demanding to us.

Higher education also requires someone to manage their time well. Little things are often forgotten when the task begins to pile up.

鈥淪urely you will feel weird if you don鈥檛 get assignments or you don鈥檛 do anything because you are used to getting lots of assignments,鈥 he said.

One thing you need to do before choosing a major is consulting your advisor. The consultation will help us to be more comfortable while undergoing studies and avoid excessive stress.

Rizal also recommends paying attention to all聽requirements聽and expectations for the studies.聽There are options prepared for choosing a major.

Accommodation is also the first thing to think about, such as dormitories or other places to stay. And lastly, the lifestyle we have will be different from before.

鈥淭here will be聽culture shock聽when we live in a place (country) with a very different culture from ours,鈥 he said.

It needs to be highlighted, during your studies, you are expected to make visits to other universities. It can build our expectations if we want to continue our studies elsewhere. It is also important to try to get scholarships both domestically and abroad. (*)
