UNAIR NEWS 鈥撀聽(UNAIR) held another collaboration聽with United Nations International Child’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).聽This time UNAIR-UNICEF coordinate with health offices throughout East Java on Friday, July 15, 2022.
The agenda was for a presentation on UNAIR-UNICEF collaboration through Geliat Airlangga in the East Java area. Promoting the community service program in the health sector, Geliat Airlangga team with UNICEF representatives presented the activities that have been prepared for 2023.
UNICEF Indonesia representative Suradi Usup Ahmad SKM MKes explained efforts to increase immunization coverage in the East Java region. The increase in coverage will be carried out through socialization, deployment of health workers, and collaboration with UNAIR KKN students.
鈥淪everal Islamic boarding schools will also be the program鈥檚 objectives to ensure and increase immunization coverage,鈥 he explained.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nyoman Anita Damayanti drg MS said that there were two clusters聽of UNAIR-UNICEF collaboration for 2022-2023.聽The first cluster聽is related to mother and child鈥檚 health (KIA) and immunization.聽Some of its activities will cover newborn care, immunization, preventing disease in children, preventing child tuberculosis and聽health in emergency.
鈥淭his聽cluster聽is included in the third pillar of SDGs, Good Health and Wellbeing,聽and 17th pillar, Partnership for the Goals,鈥 she added.
The second cluster is included in the sixth, fourth, and seventeenth pillars of SDGs.聽The cluster called聽Water, Sanitation and Hygiene聽(WASH) will focus on聽open defecation free聽and WASH in schools and health facilities.
Furthermore, Dr Arief Hargono drg MKes from UNAIR Faculty of Public Health explained the immunization acceleration efforts. Dr Arief ensured that immunization would be one of the priority programs. There are at least 11 regencies and cities that have been selected as the program鈥檚 objectives.
Located at the Health Office (Dinkes) of East Java Province, UNAIR-UNICEF provides a virtual room for discussion and input for regency and city health offices. The event was also attended by representatives of the Health Office and Bappeda from 13 regencies/cities in East Java.
The UNAIR-UNICEF collaboration has been conducted since 2015. In its seventh year of collaboration, the East Java Health Office really appreciates the collaboration because it is part of the efforts to achieve national priority programs. (*)
