UNAIR NEWS 鈥 The Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing, and Intellectual Property Rights (LPJKHI) 东京热 (UNAIR) continues to expand its support for the advancement of high-quality academic journals. As part of that effort, LPJKHI UNAIR organized a scientific seminar titled Elevating Excellence: CASE鈥摱┤ Journal Strategy Workshop, carrying the theme Transform Your Journal鈥檚 Global Footprint and Master the Art of High-Impact Publishing. The event was held on Monday (May 18, 2026) at the Sriwijaya Room, ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa B Campus, UNAIR.
The workshop featured prominent speakers, including Prof. M. Miftahussurur, dr., M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH, Ph.D., FINASIM, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Community Development; Prof. Dr. Ir. Kuswanto, M.P., Head of the Indonesian Association of Scientific Journal Editors (HEBII); Prof. Dr. Ahmad Najib Burhani, M.A., Director General of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology; and Dr. Anders Karlsson, representing CASE (Council of Asian Science Editors).
UNAIR commitment to academic excellence
In his opening remarks, Prof. Miftahussurur expressed UNAIR鈥檚 sincere appreciation to the speakers and institutions supporting the initiative. He emphasized the university鈥檚 commitment to strengthening the quality and reputation of its academic publications through the development of internationally competitive journals. 鈥淎s one of Indonesia鈥檚 innovation-driven universities, we remain committed to improving academic quality and enhancing our national reputation through stronger management of UNAIR鈥檚 academic community,鈥 he said.
He further explained that UNAIR will continue encouraging sustainable publication practices aligned with international standards through initiatives focused on journal development, publishing advancement, and intellectual property. He added that the university remains committed to adopting global best practices that can contribute to empowering Indonesian society. 鈥淭his workshop comes at the right time and serves as a highly strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology,鈥 he added.
Expanding global publication opportunities
Sharing a similar perspective, Prof. Ferry Efendi, S.Kep., Ns., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of LPJPHKI UNAIR, highlighted the importance of strengthening scientific publication quality through collaboration and international networking. According to him, the seminar represented a strategic opportunity to improve journal management capacity and enhance the global competitiveness of academic publications. 鈥淲e are here to strengthen journal quality and academic capacity so our publications can compete more effectively on the international stage,鈥 he said.
Prof. Efendi also noted that UNAIR continues to broaden its global academic engagement through its growing international community. He stated that the university currently hosts nearly 41 international students as part of its ongoing internationalization initiatives. He expressed hope that the workshop would serve as a platform for editors and journal managers to exchange best practices in managing reputable journals and producing high-impact publications. 鈥淭his seminar creates a valuable space for editors and journal administrators to learn from one another, share experiences, and develop stronger international publishing standards,鈥 he concluded.
