UNAIR NEWS 鈥 (UNAIR) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global public health through the 9th International Symposium of Public Health (ISoPH) and the inaugural International Conference of Epidemiology and Public Health (ICoEPH). The event was held Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2025) at Morazen Hotel, Jalan Kayoon, Surabaya, East Java.
Keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Ratna Dwi Wulandari, SKM, MKes (Dean of UNAIR鈥檚 Faculty of Public Health), Prof. Kelly Johnston (University of Queensland, Australia), Prof. Taro Yamauchi (Hokkaido University, Japan), and a representative from the East Java Deputy Governor鈥檚 office.
Expanding collaboration and strategy
In his remarks, UNAIR Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr, MKes, SpPD-KGEH, PhD, FINASIM, said the university remains committed to producing innovations and research with practical benefits for society.
鈥湺┤ is dedicated to advancing innovation and research that deliver real impact. This conference is a vital step in strengthening Indonesia鈥檚 academic presence on the global stage,鈥 he said.
He added that the gathering was not only a platform for knowledge exchange but also a driver of breakthroughs that exceed expectations. 鈥淲e hope it generates greater contributions to public health at both national and global levels,鈥 he emphasized.
Showcasing global expertise
With the theme Revolutionizing Public Health: Innovations and Strategies for a Resilient Future, the forum featured experts and policymakers from around the world. Among them were Prof. Dato鈥 Dr. Mohd Rizal Abdul Manaf (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia), Prof. Deborah Lupton (University of New South Wales, Australia), Prof. Hiromi Tanaka (Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan), and Prof. Gillian Fergie (University of Glasgow, Scotland).
Beyond knowledge-sharing, the event served as a strategic platform to strengthen international research collaboration. Organizers hope the forum will generate strategies and innovations to address global health challenges while enhancing resilience in both local and international contexts.
