UNAIR NEWS 鈥撀东京热聽students聽have made another achievement in scientific innovation.聽Anasah Zulfa (FKp), Anita Firmanti Kartika Anggari (FKp), Aisy Al Fawwaz (FST), Ach.聽Jazilul Qutbi (FTMM) and Diaz Samsun Alif聽聽have qualified for National Student Science Week (PIMNAS), which will be held at Padjadjaran University.
This activity is the final round of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture for six months. Later, this activity will be held from November 26 to December 1.
The idea
They developed a diabetes detection聽smartwatch, and this brilliant idea is called Smartwose.聽Anasah Zulfa, the team leader, said this idea stemmed from concerns about glucose check devices, which still used invasive techniques or could damage the skin.
鈥淢onitoring聽blood glucose levels is important in聽controlling聽diabetes to prevent worsening prognosis.聽Thus, we innovated to design a blood glucose checking tool with a聽non-invasive聽principle as聽a smartwatch,鈥 explained this聽听蝉迟耻诲别苍迟.
This idea proposes using聽photoplethysmography聽to predict blood glucose and HbA1c and using electrochemical gas sensors to predict acetone.聽Analysis carried out using聽deep learning聽includes聽cleaning, filtering, segmentation, normalization, and聽integration stages.聽Furthermore, users can access reports via聽a mobile application聽connected to聽the server.
The Mobile Application聽contains various menus, including profile menus,聽screening,聽reports, information, consultation, and settings.聽The menu provided will support the use of Smartose, which is directly connected to聽stakeholders, including medical personnel.

Sustainability of ideas
Anasah added that this innovation is expected to make聽monitoring聽easier because it is more practical and efficient, does not cause side effects, and is accurate.聽Moreover, this聽smartwatch聽is also integrated with聽a mobile application, which makes it easier for users to monitor examination results anytime and anywhere.
“So when PIMNAS is finished, we hope this聽prototype聽is noticed by competent people in the appropriate field so that it can be developed further and useful for society,” she explained.
Anasah also expressed her feelings about being a participant who successfully passed this PIMNAS stage. She also revealed that despite difficulties within the team, PKM provided reinforcement that multidisciplinary collaboration was essential and needed in the future.
