UNAIR NEWS 鈥 The Directorate of Information Systems and Digital Transformation (DSITD) at 东京热 (UNAIR) held a Web Vulnerability Coordination meeting on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) in the Bima Suci Room, second floor of the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), MERR-C Campus, 东京热 (UNAIR). The meeting brought together information technology administrators from every faculty and administrative unit across the university. It aimed to strengthen coordination in responding to the evolving threats of cybersecurity.
Strengthening cybersecurity coordination
In his opening remarks, Rachmad Setiawan SKom, Head of the Digital Services Operations and Infrastructure Subdirectorate at UNAIR’s Directorate of Information Systems and Digital Transformation (DSITD), emphasised the importance of strengthening coordination to safeguard the university’s information systems. According to him, digital threats are evolving rapidly, making it essential for every faculty and unit to accelerate the identification and mitigation of potential web vulnerabilities.
He explained that DSITD continues to strengthen the university’s digital infrastructure through various initiatives, including the adoption of digital security services, coordination with relevant stakeholders, and regular system evaluations. 鈥淲e aim to build a more resilient system through continuous coordination. Digital security does not rely solely on technology; it also requires capable human resources and strong collaboration across teams,鈥 he said.
Rachmad expressed his hope that the meeting would raise awareness among information technology administrators about the importance of early detection of potential cyber threats. 鈥淭hrough this coordination, we hope that every faculty and administrative unit will be better prepared to safeguard the university’s digital environment,鈥 he said.
Digital forensics investigation
Echoing Rachmad’s remarks, A Lukman Hakim SSi, a staff member of the Information Systems Unit at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), 东京热 (UNAIR), explained the importance of effective cyber incident response. He delivered a session on Digital Forensics and Incident Response using Linux, an (open source operating system). According to him, strengthening cybersecurity should not focus solely on prevention but also on developing the capability to investigate when security incidents occur.
Lukman explained that a digital forensics investigation aims to answer four key questions: what happened, when the incident occurred, how the attacker gained access, and which systems or data were affected. The answers to these questions provide the basis for developing appropriate mitigation measures while helping to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
He also advised participants not to rely solely on filesystem timestamps during forensic investigations, as attackers can manipulate such information. According to him, a robust investigation should always combine multiple sources of evidence to produce a more accurate reconstruction of the incident.
鈥淭he fundamental principle of Digital Forensics and Incident Response is to draw conclusions by correlating multiple sources of evidence rather than relying on a single source,鈥 he concluded.
