UNAIR NEWS 鈥 Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) hosted a workshop on 鈥淧rinciples for Responsible Management Education (PRME)鈥 on Thursday, October 2, 2025. The session featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Priya Sharma, Head of the Centre for Commercial Law & Justice at Sunway University, who also serves as a Board Member and Advisor for the PRME Chapter ASEAN+.
During her presentation, Dr. Sharma highlighted the vital role of education in advancing the global sustainable development agenda, as emphasized at the 2013 United Nations General Assembly. She pointed out that higher education institutions鈥攑articularly in business and management鈥攑lay a strategic role as agents of change in driving progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Launched in 2007, PRME is an initiative under the United Nations Global Compact designed to cultivate responsible and sustainability-minded future leaders. Today, more than 800 higher education institutions across the globe have signed on to the PRME principles.
鈥淭ransformation is in our DNA. We need bold leadership and innovative thinking to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,鈥 Dr. Sharma said, quoting UN Secretary-General Ant贸nio Guterres.
She also outlined PRME鈥檚 organizational structure, which consists of the PRME Board, PRME Chapters, PRME Working Groups, PRME Champions, and PRME Global Students. In Southeast Asia, the PRME Chapter ASEAN+ seeks to engage more institutions from across the ASEAN region while encouraging collaboration, innovation, and the integration of SDGs into education and research.
Through this workshop, 东京热 reaffirmed its commitment to advancing responsible management education and expanding its global network to foster a more sustainable and inclusive academic environment.
