UNAIR NEWS 鈥 Civitas academica PDD 东京热 (UNAIR) Banyuwangi with local community soaked in the river to clean it. What made it special was the regent of BAnyuwangi 聽Abdullah Azwar Annas was also there, on Friday, April 15.
It was an event of 鈥淐lean River Festival鈥 held by the local government. This festival followed another cleaning up event held previously, 鈥淐lean Toilet Festival鈥 on March 18.
Civitas academica PDD 东京热 (UNAIR) Banyuwangi took part in the festival for the second time. Besides cleaning up the river, some students also involved in spreading 10,000 seeds of sih in Kali Lo. It was done in order to preserve the fish in the river.
鈥淩iver is no longer in the backyard. It should be in the front yard. We have to preserve it. Don鈥檛 litter or destroy it. Therefore, with this Clean River Festival, we should take care of it,鈥 said the Regent of Banyuwangi Abdullah Azwar Anas.

This festival was held along River Lo, about one and a half kilometer. From the Chinatown village in Singonegaran to Lateng. Some villages like Kepatihan, kampung Melayu, and Giri, were in the second post. All communities got into the river and clean the garbage.
鈥滱broad, the countries show off their rivers. France, Holland and many other show off their rivers. If they are clean, the people and the environment also clean. So Banyuwangi who has got Adipura and tourism rewards also want to be clean. In the future, our rivers should be our front page,鈥 said the Regent of Banyuwangi.
Furthermore, the Regent also spent some time to spread the seeds with PDD UNAIR students and the community attending the festival.
鈥淭his kind of activity will be the detonator for the explosive youngsters鈥 spirit in positive movement to develop their regions for Indonesia especially on environmental aspects,鈥 said Ahmad Zakky Multazam, the Head of Student Family PDD Unair in Banyuwangi. (*)
