Strengthening Internationalization Through Publications

UNAIR NEWS –聽Various steps and efforts of acceleration to become one of Top 500 world-class universities have been conducted by .聽One of the important key points that are now being encouraged is research and publications into international journals, especially international journals indexed by聽Scopus.

Therefore, when giving a speech in front of new students of doctoral, master鈥檚, specialist, and professional programs, Head of Research and Innovation Institute (LPI) UNAIR Prof.聽Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of research contributions and publications to achieve the goal to be a world class university.

“One of the contributions to be a world-class university is research and publication.聽And, this is the target from the ministry for us to be the top 500 world universities, “said Prof.聽Hery.

In the oration delivered at the Garuda Mukti Hall, February 1, Prof.聽Hery also emphasized the role of new students to participate in achieving UNAIR targets.聽Regarding research and publications, students and lecturers should continue to collaborate well.聽If it can be done, he added, the target of being Top 500 world universities can be realized.

“The newly inaugurated students here, there are 700 more.聽If within two to four years into the future all active in research and publication, there will be a lot of outcomes generated, “he explained.

Furthermore, the professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR emphasized the existence of a vibrant academic climate as it will support the success of research programs and publications.

“The university is seen from academic quality and scientific communication.聽Abroad, the academic life was really felt.聽Meanwhile, our country is still preoccupied with activities in social media, “he said.

Regarding the target, Prof.聽Hery insisted that it must be pursued.聽For him, it is not just to pursue prestige.聽Furthermore, the process of improving quality together is the ultimate goal.

“Being a world class university is not a matter of prestige.聽This is a process for improving quality.聽Therefore, all of you will be educated and developed into qualified students, “he explained.

At the end, Prof.聽Hery reiterated becoming a world-class university can affect several aspects, such as competition among universities in improving quality, performance and institutional governance, also improving internal and external welfare.

“And, of all that, there will be also a good reputation in the public,” he concluded.
