UNAIR NEWS –聽Students of Nursing Master program of held a community service to dozens of elderly people in Dupak Bangunsari Sub-District, Krembangan, Surabaya.聽The event themed “Improving the Welfare of Diabetic Client Through 3P”, was held in Hall of RW IV Bangunsari, Thursday, October 12.
Attending on behalf of the Dean of FKp UNAIR, Dr.聽Kusnanto as Vice Dean I FKp UNAIR said that the activities have been the tradition will always be improved.聽In addition, he also hoped that the existence of this dedication activities can have a positive impact on the health of people in Surabaya.
“With this kind of activity, I hope the existence of FKp UNAIR brings a positive impact for the people of Surabaya.聽We have knowledge and we want to develop and use it for the people of Surabaya, ” he said.
In presence of dozens of elderly who are under the treatment of Gatot Kaca Elderly integrated healthcare post, Kusnanto also advised, considering the high diabetes rate in Indonesia, it is important to continue to detect diabetes early and manage the lifestyle.
“In Indonesia, the diabetes rate is very high.聽The rich and the poor are all affected.聽For those who have been affected please immediately report, “said Kusnanto.
Supervisor of Posyandu Gatot Kaca dr.聽Rosna is very grateful to the presence of fellow Nursing master students of FKp UNAIR.聽With these activities the whole elderly were assisted as they can get more in-depth information about diabetes.聽In addition, he also hoped the elderly to optimize the opportunity.
“I hope all can maximize this moment,” said Rosna.
Interviewed in different occasion, Moch.聽Dadang Suharno, S.Kep., Ners., as the head of the event said that the event was packed with various activities.聽Starting from the examination of blood sugar to giving insight around the general picture of diabetes, regulate diet, early detection of diabetes, and how to deal with diabetes wounds.
“Diabetes is one of the diseases with a great number of people suffer from it.聽In Surabaya, Dupak area is one of them.聽Hence, we held counseling here to provide insight and knowledge for its treatment, “said Dadang.
The activity which was handled entirely by the first semester students was not merely devotion.聽For the nurse who had served in Bontang East Kalimantan, the first community service he did with the team became a means to strengthen kinship and unity.
