UNAIR NEWS<\/b> \u2013 Limited access to information on environmentally sustainable careers, along with the lack of integrated national data on green jobs, has emerged as a key concern for three International Relations students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP<\/a>) at 东京热 (UNAIR<\/a>). They observed that although opportunities in the green sector are steadily growing, access to these roles remains uneven and often difficult to navigate, especially for young job seekers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

In response, they developed an initiative titled <\/span>\u201cBridging the Gap Between Green Job Supply and Demand through EcoConnect.id: An Integrative Platform to Promote Accessibility and Job Opportunities in Achieving Indonesia\u2019s Green Energy Transition.\u201d<\/span><\/i> The proposal was submitted to the UI SDGs Summit 2025 Essay Competition, organized by the Student Executive Board of Universitas Indonesia (BEM UI), with the final round held from November 21 to 22, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The team, consisting of Naylah RA Matondang, Nabila Deftya Zahra, and Keiza Aulia Fidhya Sugianto, earned second place in the Chamber Economic Growth cluster, one of three thematic categories in the competition.<\/p>\n\n

Limited access and information<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

Matondang, the team leader, said the idea was sparked after they attended an ASEAN forum on the development of green jobs. During the discussion, they realized that Indonesia\u2019s presence in conversations about green employment remains limited and underrepresented. \u201cWe began to question where Indonesia actually stands and why it is rarely included in discussions on green jobs,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Prompted by that realization, the team conducted further research into Indonesia\u2019s labor landscape, focusing on gaps in access and the mismatch between industry needs and job seekers. From this, EcoConnect.id was conceived as an integrative platform aimed at connecting government institutions, private sector actors, and job seekers in the green economy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

\u201cData on green jobs in Indonesia is extremely limited. Records are poorly maintained, and much of the information is outdated. Even the government\u2019s official platform on green jobs has been inactive for about two years,\u201d she explained.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Designing an AI-based prototype<\/b><\/h5>\n\n

As part of its development, EcoConnect.id features an artificial intelligence-based matching system. Users can upload their CVs, allowing the platform to analyze their skills and recommend relevant green job opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The team chose this technology to streamline the job search process and improve job-matching accuracy. However, they acknowledged that implementing AI requires careful planning and further refinement. \u201cThe judges advised us to strengthen the AI component before moving toward full implementation,\u201d Matondang added.<\/p>\n\n

Looking ahead, the team hopes EcoConnect.id can be further developed, given its potential to bridge the gap between job seekers and the green industry. \u201cWe want green jobs to be more than just a buzzword. They should translate into real opportunities. If this platform can be realized, we believe it will have a meaningful impact, particularly for young people entering the workforce,\u201d she concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
